7 Lessons from the CrowdStrike Meltdown

September 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Hosted by ISACA’s Hudson Valley Chapter:

On July 19, 2024, the cybersecurity industry – and the world – experienced an epic global cyber disaster unlike anything the world had seen before.

Within minutes of execution, 8.5 million computers were compromised and unavailable, by a wide margin the largest cybersecurity event in history. Airlines, banks, hospitals, State and Federal agencies, most of the Fortune 1000 and nearly 25,000 other companies were incapacitated, sending the global population and supply chains worldwide into an epic meltdown.

But this wasn’t a coordinated ransomware or a nation-state attack. It wasn’t Revil, DarkSide or Anonymous. In fact, the largest cybersecurity incident in history was caused by a simple mistake made by one of the most recognized cybersecurity providers in the world.

Despite the damages, losses and disruptions, the CrowdStrike incident may be the wakeup call we needed to shake up an industry that has for far too long been painfully susceptible to shiny new objects, the status quo and a lack of imagination.

Join Reg Harnish, the CEO of OrbitalFire Cybersecurity, as we explore the best things to come from the global CrowdStrike Meltdown – lessons learned.

Open to members and non-members. ISACA chapter members can receive a CE credit for attending this webinar.
